Chillicothe Council's human resources committee has a response to the suggestion to reduce the number of council members...and it's 'not likely.'
In the minutes from their Thursday meeting, the committee reports that to do that would require a ballot issue...but it's too late for the spring election...and it would cost a $45,000 state filing fee.
So, there would probably not be any hoped-for savings.
The committee will suggest a workgroup to look into alternatives, including staggered and extended terms for council members.
Council meets in its regular session Monday night.
