A Pleasant Valley family has decided to put an end to a long neighborhood tradition, after vandals destroyed an elaborate front-yard Christmas light display.

The Hall family has been putting it up for about three decades, and this year's version featured 30,000 lights. Hundreds of people drove into their cul-de-sac Barnhart Drive northwest of Chillicothe to see the show every year.

But vandals hit overnight Saturday, tearing up parts of the display - and stealing others.

The remains of Santa's helicopter was dumped in the yard Monday.

Mike Hall said he has invested more than $7,000 into Christmas decorations, and starts preparing every October.  The Chillicothe Gazette and Columbus Dispatch report that the Halls spent Sunday taking down what was left of it, and have decided to put an end to the tradition.

Hall is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect, or suspects.  There is chatter on the "Ross County News Group" on Facebook to raise donations to contribute...and maybe do more.
