A man is dead and another person evacuated by medical helicopter following a crash between a vehicle and a semi on I-71 near Jeffersonville.

The crash occurred in the southbound lane of I-71 around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The vehicle struck the rear portion of the semi's trailer and was crushed underneath.

One male was pronounced dead at the scene. A seperate occupant was taken by helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the big rig was not injured in the crash.

The identities of the victims are yet to be released.

The crash is being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
