Ross County Sheriff's Deputies physically removed from the ledge of a bridge a man who was threatening to jump off of it, Thursday. Authorities say 61-year-old Jerry Shepherd was upset for being arrested for misdemeanor assault on Tuesday.
Shepherd had reportedly been evicted from his Cooks Hill Road home and was alleged to have shoved the park manager on Tuesday. She told authorities he aggressively came up to her while she was walking by and shoved her, which led to his arrest.
Shepherd denied touching her.
Authorities responded to the southbound lanes of the Bridge Street bridge, just south of US 35, at around 2:50pm, Thursday. They had to physically get control of him as they were unable to talk him down.
Deputies say he was taken to the hospital for a medical and mental health evaluation.
