The Green Township Fire Department celebrated its 60th anniversary with a community open house, Saturday. Fire Chief Terry French said it gave locals a chance to check out the department's newly purchase engine.
"This truck replace a '74 and '76 that were still in service," said Fire Chief Terry French.
"The '76 we're going to donate to Franklin Township."
The new 2013 custom-built engine was funded through a tax levy.
"We're a very fortunate township; we have great support from our township residents and our trustees, and we've got a truck that I'm confident is going to do the job for us for the next 20 years," said Assistant Fire Chief Rick Halley.
Green Township's Fire and EMS services are made up of around 60 volunteers.
