The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was investigating the crash on US Route 50 near Londonderry about 4pm.
According to witness statements, 63-year-old Melvyn W. Woodard of Columbus, was eastbound on US Route 50 in a 1992 Chevrolet Pickup. He was attempting to turn left into a private driveway when he failed to yield, and was struck by a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on US 50.
The driver of the motorcycle, 69-year-old Roger W. Seitz of Londonderry, was ejected and thrown into the eastbound lane, where he was struck by a 2000 Toyota Camry driven by 60-year-old Robert W. Barnhart of Chillicothe.
Seitz was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ross County Coroner’s office. A passenger on the motorcycle, 61-year-old Julia F. Stauffer, also of Londonderry, was also ejected, and was thrown across the eastbound lane into the ditch.
Stauffer was flown to the Ohio State University Medical Center and was listed in stable condition last night.
Melvyn Woodard was placed under arrest on a probation violation warrant from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and is being held in the Ross County Jail.
