The Affordable Health Care Act, better known as Obama Care, goes into full operation in January. Marvin Jones, of the Chillicothe/Ross Chamber of Commerce, advises there are things local businesses need to be doing now to prepare and resources available to help them along the way.
"Most of them are working with their current agent. . ., and that's a very, very good start," said Jones, "and also, too, we encourage them, obviously, to talk to their accountant because of the potential tax consequences that are going to be out there, too."
Jones added there could be big dollar savings for some participating in the health care plan.
"For those with fewer than 25 employees, (there's) the potential for that 50% tax break," he said.
"If you're paying out $50,000 in premiums for your employees and you can get a tax credit of $25,000, obviously, that means a lot when right now it's only 35%."
