The International Sunflower Festival kicks off its 14th year at the end of the month with the "Life in a Small Town" theme.
"I think that's what it's about; it's kind of like a homecoming for people in Frankfort," said Kristie Minor.
"We get a lot of people (who) come back and say they love to come to Sunflower Festival every year just to see all their friends."
The festival starts with a pancake breakfast both days, along with a daily fish fry, ice cream social, and BBQ sandwiches.
Minor said it will also include the "Light Up the Night 5K" at 7:30pm, August 31, in Brad Lytle Park: "Frankfort will be glowing this year; we're going to have neon shirts for everybody, everybody's going to have a glow necklace on, (and) the path is going to be lit up."
The festival runs from August 31 to September 1.
