An Orient Prison inmate assault of his cellmate last September, that led to the victim's death, has yielded more prison time for the attacker.
Pickaway County Common Pleas Judge Randy Knece sentenced 42-year-old James Laubenstein to three years in prison in the fatal assault. Laubenstein had pleaded guilty to reckless homicide.
At the time of the assault, Laubenstein was serving seven years for robbery, consecutive with an 8-to-25-year sentence for aggravated burglary for from Butler County.
55-year-old Walter J. Young of Columbus, who was his cellmate at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient. Young was taken to Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center, where he died.
