Two wild high school volleyball matches were treats for the fans in the Scioto Valley Conference to conclude the regular season Thursday, leading to Zane Trace claiming the undisputed league crown.

Zane Trace won at Adena 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-7. The win was necessary to avoid a co-championship, with Westfall winning in a five set dual at Huntington 26-24, 22-25, 14-25, 25-19, 16-14.

The Pioneers were led by Delaney Spetnagle with 17 kills and 38 digs, followed by Hayle Carle's 16 kills, 29 digs and 3 serving aces. Kylan Strausbaugh had 16 kills/28 digs, Alyx Chaffin 8 kills/18 digs/5 blocks. Karah Tillis dished out 29 assists with 12 digs and Jillian Pontious 23 assists with 11 digs.

The Warriors had 18 kills and 28 digs from Bridgette Scaggs, Alyssa Kennedy 17 kills/13 digs/2 aces, Karli Bower 10 kills/24 digs, Jenny Grigsby 8 kills/42 digs and 2 aces. Setter Kirsten Dawson had 4 kills, 44 assists and 21 digs, Natalie Jones had 22 digs.

Zane Trace concludes their regular season at (12-2/20-2) while Adena drops to (9-5/11-11).


The other wild match of the night at Huntington, saw the Mustangs edge the Huntsmen in five sets to claim sole possession of the runner-up slot at (11-3) while Huntington drops to (9-5).

Westfall's Olivia Cobb had 31 kills, 20 assists, 19 digs and 2 blocks. Hannah Phillips added 15 kills, 7 digs, 6 blocks and 4 aces and Kayla Tackett had 33 digs.

Huntington's Jackie Kellough broke her own school record set last week, blasting 41 kills with 15 digs and 5 aces. Dylana Gragg had 20 kills, 17 digs, 3 blocks, Alayna Lytle had 23 digs and Haley Ingram had 58 assists and 11 digs.
