The first annual Dual Team State Wrestling Championships will be held this Saturday at St. John Arena on The Ohio State University campus in Columbus.
After Wednesday night's regional finals, the Amanda Clearcreek Aces and Blanchester Wildcats advanced out of the State Sweet 16.
Meanwhile both the Circleville Tigers & Hillsboro Indians lost in their regional finals.
In Division 2 action---Athens defeated Circleville at Everts Middle School in Circleville by 41-19 score. The Bulldogs reward for the win is to now face state powerhouse St. Paris Graham Saturday at 11am in he quarterfinals. Graham defeated Dayton Carroll 71-9 to qualify.
Graham is currently ranked tied for 1st in the state Division 2 wrestling polls.
Ross eliminated SCOL runner up Hillsboro by a 46-26 score. Ross will now face off against Cuyahoga Falls Christian Valley Academy (also tied for 1st in the D2 state polls with Graham).
In Division 3 Amanda Clearcreek continues to dominate their opponents as they upset 7th rank in the state Shadyside by a convincing 53-16 score. Of the Aces 3 matches none were closer than 21 points.
Blanchester defeated Cincinnati Deer Park 42-27 & will face Massillon Tuslaw in the state quarterfinals.
The winners of the Amanda Clearcreek & Blanchester matches would then face off at 3:30pm Saturday in the semi-finals.
Then the Dual Team State Wrestling Championships will be held starting at 8pm Saturday.
