A big second half allowed Unioto (1-2/2-4) to defeat Westfall (2-1/2-4) on Friday night.
Westfall scored on the first drive of the game, on a 7 yard run by Alonzo Rice. After forcing two Unioto punts, Westfall was able get back on the board via a 12 yard touchdown pass from Cole Hardin to Tommy Staten, to take a 12-0 lead into the 2nd Quarter.
Unioto finally got on the board in the 2nd Quarter with a 52 yard touchdown run by Dillon Binegar.
Westfall was able to put the ball in the end zone two more times before the half. A touchdown run of 54 yards by Tommy Staten and 39 yards by Taylor Salmons, put Westfall up 26-7.
On the ensuing kickoff, Unioto's Harrison Taylor picked up a squib kick and took it 69 yards to the house for 26-14 Westfall lead.
Trailing 26-14 after the first half, Unioto was able to use field position to their advantage keeping the ball on the Mustang's half of the field. Unioto scored on three of their first five possessions of the half, including a 37 yard touchdown pass from Erique Hosley to Kyle Strange and a pair 3 yard runs by Hosley and Ryan Spencer, to take a 34-26 lead late in the fourth quarter.
Westfall put together a nine play drive ending with a two yard touchdown run by Alonzo Rice to pull within two points at 32-34.
Westfall forced a Unioto punt with under 30 seconds remaining in the ball game. Westfall's Tommy Staten scooped up the football and ran it back to the Unioto three yard line with just ten seconds remaining in the game.
Cole Hardin's pass was picked off at the goal line by Colin Hutchinson, to end the game 34-32.
For Westfall, Taylor Salmon led the way with 135 yards rushing on 17 carries. Tommy Staten was 7/14 passing for 58 yards. Westfall totaled 322 yards of offense.
Unioto was led by Dillon Binegar with 193 yards rushing on 20 carries. Erique Hosley was 2/7 for 45 yards passing. Unioto totaled 371 yards of offense.
Westfall travels to Paint Valley Friday to take on the Bearcats (3-0/6-0)
