A notice says inpatient services at Chillicothe's Adena hospital will not be covered by Medicare; hospital officials remain hopeful.
Medicare says it will stop covering inpatient hospital services at Adena at the end of this month after the Ohio Department of Health discovered security issues at the facility.
A legal notice published in The Chillicothe Gazette, Wednesday, said the change will go into effect April 27th; however, Adena Chief of Staff Dr. Tony Freeman is hopeful that corrections made will prompt the reversal of the decision made by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.
"Our goal would be that by the end of this week or, the latest, the first of next week, that this will all be taken care of and that will all be rescinded and there will be no interruption to the care of any of the patients," said Dr. Freeman.
Some corrections made at the hospital, he said, include the implementation of visitor badges and heightened security restrictions of various areas.
He anticipates the Ohio Department of Health will re-investigate well before the April 27th cutoff date.
Freeman suggests patients with concerns contact their primary care physician for clarification.
