Street value estimated at $52,000 in Chillicothe.
52 marijuana plants were seized Wednesday by Chillicothe Police. Ervin Howard Jr., gave Officers consent to search his home on East Water Street for illegal drugs, after a complaint was issued about possible drug activity taking place there.
Detectives found grow lights in the basement and could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the garage.
Mr. Howard then requested that officers stop searching the home and as detectives were obtaining a search warrant Mr. Howard ran inside the house where he attempted to reach for a basket. He was then taken to the floor and handcuffed after resisting arrest.
Officers located cocaine inside that basket and In a basement room under the garage Detectives found a very sophisticated marijuana grow operation. A total of 52 marijuana plants were seized with an estimated street value of $52,000 and an estimated $8,000 worth of equipment.
Mr. Howard is being held on charges of possession of cocaine, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
