Pickaway County Commissioners say future company abatement requests will also include local hiring stipulation.

After months of negotiations, a Pickaway County company has been granted tax abatement for a multi-million dollar expansion.

Aleris Rolled Products Inc. will receive a 60% abatement over 10 years on their $34 million project, which will cover $8.9 million of that total. In exchange for the abatement, Aleris is required to hire at least 33% of their workforce from Pickaway County residents- with a target goal of 50%.

Pickaway County Enterprise Zone Manager Terry Frazier says the commissoners will expect this type of commitment from businesses seeking abatement from here-on... 04-25 Terry Frazier

Aleris plans to create 68 jobs over the next 36 months to work beside their current 117 employees.
