Reducing staff by 80% on May 10th
Ross County Community Action officials announced that staff for the Home Weatherization Assistance Program will be reduced by 80% on May 10. Executive Director Wayne McLaughlin says they will go from 15 to 3 employees.
McLaughlin explained that the funding has ended and the amount of funding available to the program is less that what it was before, and other Counties are experiencing the same difficulty.
In addition, the number of households served through the weatherization program will be reduced and applications are no longer being accepted for it. McLaughlin says that instead of being able to serve 150-200 people next year they can serve fewer than 50, and they have a significant number of applications already.
McLaughlin suggests residents call members of congress to express their concern about these cuts, as more cuts to the program are anticipated for next year.
