Former Chillicothe Policeman Richard Eric McKee is accused of engaging in sexual activity with an underage girl.

In a short hearing Wednesday morning, Ross County Common Pleas Court Judge Mike Ater heard an offer to change a plea to guilty on 4 of 14 counts by former Chillicothe Police Officer Richard Eric McKee.

Ross County Prosecutor Matt Schmidt says admitting guilt on these lesser charges is an attempt by McKee to reduce the amount of evidence submitted against McKee in his upcoming trial.

McKee's attorney Jim Boulger declined to comment.

Judge Ater says he will rule on sentencing for the four counts after the verdict on the other 10 counts in the June trial.

McKee was still on the Chillicothe police force when he allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a girl that was in her early teens at the time.
