Chillicothe Mayor Jack Everson says developers are hoping to get renovation underway this September
Strides are being made for restoration of the Carlisle Building at the corner of Main and Paint streets in Chillicothe. The Carlisle was torched by arsonists in 2003 and has stood vacant since then.
In June, a plan was announced to rehabilitate the downtown building. Mayor Jack Everson says the Michael Chesler Group hopes to start the renovations in September. The mayor says the Chesler Group wants to secure others who will utilize the building. Currently, the city is considering leasing the third floor as office space.
The mayor says city council is in a research stage where members are asking quality questions and evaluating the city's potential involvement in the project.
Everson hopes a decision to proceed will come in time for construction to begin on the Carlisle Building in September.
