Person of interest is in custody
One man was shot in Chillicothe on Saturday. Just after 3am Chillicothe Police Officers arrived at 695 Saint Margaret Road in reference to a shooting in the street.
Officers were told that both the victim and the suspected shooter left the scene in separate vehicles. The victim, Nicholas T. Morgan, was driven to the Adena E.R. with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was contacted by officers who discovered there was an altercation between the victim, and Derek L. Thomas of 740 Erie Avenue and that Thomas fired at least two rounds from a pistol at Morgan striking him in the leg.
Thomas was later located near his home on Erie, Officers pursued him on foot and observed Thomas place his hands in the front his waist band. Thomas eluded the officers on foot but was later discovered in that same area and taken into custody.
A handgun was located on the roof of the library located at 550 Buckeye Street where Thomas had run and was secured as evidence. Thomas is charged with felonious assault.
