In the case, authorities also exhumed the man's dead dog.
A man is facing multiple charges after leading authorities on a foot chase, Tuesday. A woman reported to Ross County Sheriff's deputies that Evan Wheaton told her that his dog died after he was run over by a truck and that it was her dog's fault.
According to the report, Wheaton's dog was supposedly in the back of a truck and jumped out after seeing the woman's dog running alongside the vehicle. His dog reportedly ran into the path of the truck and was killed.
Wheaton allegedly told the woman he shot her dog over the incident and threw a can of beer at her back.
Officers said when they arrived at the property on US 50, Wheaton ran into a corn field but was eventually found by a relative's home.
Authorities said he began cursing at officers and denied doing anything to the woman's dog; however, authorities found shell casings and blood on the property, so they attained a search warrant to exhume a fresh grave found on the property.
It was confirmed that the buried dog belonged to Wheaton, and he told authorities he did not know where the woman's dog was.
Wheaton faces charges of assault, obstruction, and domestic violence.
