Incident started from a domestic dispute
Ross County Sheriff George Lavender reports that at approximately 7pm Saturday, his office was dispatched to an active domestic dispute at 366 Pepper Station Road in Southeastern Ross County.
Upon arrival deputies observed a male subject fleeing the scene into a nearby cornfield carrying a firearm.
The suspect was identified as 32-year-old James L. Myers of 362 Meadow Run Road Waverly, Ohio. Mr. Myers had been involved in an ongoing domestic dispute with his ex- girlfriend at 366 Pepper Station Road, and according to her had threatened to kill her.
Deputies made contact with her and she was not injured.
Deputies established a perimeter around the corn field where Mr. Myers was last seen. Sheriff's Deputies along with personnel from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Jackson, Ohio Police Department conducted a search of the field. Mr. Myers body was found in the field where he had apparently committed suicide.
The Ross County Coroner's Office was then called to scene.
Sheriff Lavender thanked his deputies, the Ohio Highway Patrol, and the Jackson Police Department for their quick response and assistance in this incident.
