Circleville will be closing their jail, and council met with Berger for a while.
Safety chairman Barry Keller saw an ordinance pass to reach a long-term goal for city lawbreakers - to close the jail.
Keller said the city jail has only two cells, they're outdated, a liability, and a duplicate of what Pickaway County has....so contracting with them to take city prisoners has been much needed.

In a long meeting before the council session, the city worked with their public hospital to improve local government oversight and the operation of Berger Health System, especially after voters rejected making it a private nonprofit in 2009. Berger president and CEO Tim Colburn represented the hospital.
This has been to partly take advantage of recent changes in state law, for the few hospital systems like Berger that are overseen by a county and city.
Demolition of two houses and rezoning of the resulting parking lots was also discussed in a public hearing.
