Authorities say 23-year-old Jason Francis was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Frankfort man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on in Ross County, Tuesday. Sgt. James Lott, of the Highway Patrol, said that 23-year-old Jason R. Francis was westbound on Mallow Road at 11:06 a.m. when he drove left of center and crashed into an eastbound vehicle driven by 67-year-old Donna J. Freeman.

Francis was trapped inside the vehicle, which caught fire but was extinguished by someone who lives near the accident location.

“The fire did not spread into the cab of the vehicle,” said Sgt. Lott. “It stayed on the outside in the engine area.”

Francis was pronounced dead at the scene, while Freeman, of Frankfort, was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Mallow Road was closed for approximately five hours during an investigation.

While the crash remains under investigation, Sgt. Lott said speed did not appear to be a factor.
