Council prepared for the new year and said goodbye to a city officer.
After his resignation as City Auditor Wednesday, Tom Spetnagel Jr. received well wishes from council members at the end of his third year. He is replacing Ross County Auditor Steve Neal, who was elected to county commissioner.
In his last weeks, Spetnagel oversaw 15 meetings in the difficult process of formulating the 2013 budget...without a large carryover, without funds from the state, and with an expected deficit.
He said they tried to avoid mass layoffs, which concessions from the unions helped greatly.
The budget is about $45,000,000 and can be found on the city's website.
Spetnagel say this position has prepared him for his next, and he's more than willing to help his replacement to make a smooth transition.
The Ross County Democrat Party should select a replacement when they meet January 8th. The budget document can be found on the city's website.
