Speeds hit 115-miles-per-hour at times
A chase that went through Fayette and Pickaway counties led to an arrest Wednesday. The Pickaway County Sheriff reports that 44-year-old David B. Daniels of Columbus was wanted on a felony warrant for assault and parole violation.
A Pickaway deputy tried to make a traffic stop on Egypt Pike, but Daniels fled, starting the chase which would go through New Holland and onto U.S. Route 22 westbound at speeds of up to 115-miles-per-hour. Stop sticks were placed on the roadway by Fayette County Sheriff deputies and Washington CH Police Department near Bogus Road, but Daniels was able to avoid the sticks and proceed.
Stops sticks were placed again by WCH Police near State Route 753, where the vehicle hit one of the sticks, causing a flat tire. Daniels tried to continue, where he attempted to strike a Pickaway County Sheriff cruiser, causing the deputy to swerve off the road. The chase entered Washington CH onto Broadway Street, where Daniels exited and fled on foot.
Daniels was later apprehended with the help of a K-9 and placed under arrest.
He was charged with two counts of assault upon a police officer, failure to comply with a law enforcement officer, obstructing official business, failure to reinstate and driving left-of-center.
