David Caplinger is accused of breaking into homes along the route and stealing jewelry.
During its Friday session, a Ross County Grand Jury indicted a Chillicothe man on multiple counts. According to the Prosecutor's Office, 29-year-old David Caplinger used his job as a newspaper carrier for The Chillicothe Gazette to watch the tendencies of the local residents. He then allegedly kicked in some of the doors and stole jewelry from the homes, while his girlfriend, 25-year-old Jolyn Prieto, acted as the lookout.
Officials say the homes targeted were located along Williamsport Pike, Pennyroyal Road, Lutz Road, Old Elm Road, and Andersonville Road.
Caplinger is also accused of stealing a credit card from a hospital employee during one of Prieto's appointments. Officials believe he gave the card to 25-year-old Kynlin Campbell, who allegedly used the card twice in a local department store.
Caplinger has been indicted on six counts of burglary (F3) and a count of theft (F5), while Prieto, of Chillicothe, has been indicted on 6 counts of complicity to burglary (F3), and Campbell, of Chillicothe, was indicted for receiving stolen property and forgery (F5).
Other indictments include:
*24-year-old Stephon Cunningham and 21-year-old Anthony Thomas, Jr., both of Chillicothe, for second-degree felony possession of heroin and third-degree felony possession of cocaine. On February 5, authorities searched the defendants' home on 740 Erie Avenue. According to police, when the house was entered, Thomas and Cunningham fled by jumping out of a downstairs window, but they were secured by police in the front yard. In the home, authorities say they found a total of 16.5 grams of cocaine and 15.6 grams of heroin, as well as 2.4 grams of heroin in Thomas' possession.
*25-year-old Shawn Adkins, of Bainbridge, for fifth-degree felony theft and fourth-degree felony failure to verify current residence address. The indictment alleges Adkins was caught stealing a corn picker from a Bainbridge home in February of 2011. According to the Prosecutor's Office, Adkins was convicted of unlawful sexual contact with a minor in 2008 and is required to register his address ever 180 days; however, officials say he failed to do so as he last registered in June of 2010.
*37-year-old Timmy Morrison, Jr., of Amanda, for fifth-degree aggravated possession of drugs. Morrison is accused of being parked in a field on Whisler Road, in Kingston, on December 20, 2012, and found with 0.6 grams of meth. Officials say he also had a suspended license.
*35-year-old Willie Taylor, of Detroit, Michigan, for two counts of aggravated possession of drugs (F2). According to the Prosecutor's Office, Taylor was stopped on US 23 on September 27, 2012, for a moving violation and found with 101 (80-mg) Oxycodone pills and 172 (30-mg) Oxycodone pills.
*46-year-old Karl Brown, of Chillicothe, for fifth-degree possession of cocaine. The indictment alleges Brown was found with 0.9 grams of cocaine during a traffic stop on February 3rd.
All told, 28 cases were presented to the Grand Jury, Friday, and all were returned as indictments; 9 were open.
