The Ohio Attorney General's Office has referred the investigation back to the city of Chillicothe.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine's Office has declined to take over the investigation of Chillicothe Police Chief Roger Moore. Chillicothe Mayor Jack Everson said the Ohio Attorney General's office referred it back to the law director on Tuesday because the OAG only handle felonies -- not potential misdemeanors.
Mayor Everson said Law Director Sherri Rutherford is looking for another agency to handle the investigation.
On Friday, Mayor Everson announced the city's decision to seek an outside source to conduct an independent investigation of Chief Moore, who was recently involved in a verbal altercation outside of a local bar.
