The wetland preserve would be created with the help of public grant funds
A proposal for development of a wetland preserve has been brought to Ross County Commissioners.
The area would see grants used to purchase between 30-35 acres of land now owned by the Rupiper Family in the area of Kinnikinnick Creek between Crouse Chapel Road and State Route 159.
Gary Merkamp of the Ross County Park District details why he believes this is important....
Merkamp believes the purchase of the land will cost up to $150,000 and the proposal seeks 75% of the funding from the Clean Ohio Fund and 25% from ODOT. The preserve would include a walking path.
Merkamp added there is also a future possibility that more land in that area could be donated by the Herron Family Farms.
