Chillicothe Mayor Jack Everson was told by the city auditor that a previous legal opinion might open door for park & rec funds to be used to repair the city pool
Chillicothe's municipal pool will open this year, but the concern for its future partly centers around much-needed repairs.
Mayor Jack Everson says they "may" have found a funding source that could help with those repairs, and it is right under our nose.
The answer could be in the existing Parks & Recreation Capital Fund, according to conversations the mayor had with City Auditor Luke Feeney. Feeney told the mayor that a previous "legal opinion" indicates those funds can be used for repairing or renovating the city pool. The administration is seeking legal advise to get clarification on that.
The fund, which currently contains $400,000, has some of the money committed to replacing playground equipment in the park. The capital fund is fed by one tenth of one percent of the city's income tax going to it.
