Following 2008's economic downturn, the county had to scale back on its capital expenditures, officials say.
The Ross County Commissioners say they have leaned heavily upon their maintenance personnel to keep many of their buildings functional. Commissioner Doug Corcoran says that has not always been easy, with a tighter budget and an aging county courthouse.
"It's a really daunting task really with the buildings we have, especially the aging courthouse," said Corcoran. "It's just constant maintenance, but we have a really good group of maintenance folks and a good county administrator that are trying to get us a plan together, so we can get things back on schedule."
He said the county had to scale back on its capital expenditures in 2008 because of the economic downturn but is focusing on catching back up.
