The monument was finished in 1885 in Grandview Cementery
The Ross County Commissioners along with the Soldiers Monument Trust, are looking to make repairs to the Civil War Monument in Grandview Cemetery.
The monument was erected in three evolutions, beginning with the limestone base in 1867 and was completed in 1885.
Weather, pollution, and time have left the monument in disrepair and in need of continued maintenance. It is estimated that it would take $34,000 to make the repairs necessary to the monument.
Talks also include replacing the monument with a granite monument with estimated cost of $76,000.
The Commissioners will have a decision within the next couple of weeks.
