Jerry Mowery is leaving Huntington Schools
Zane Trace School District's gain, will be Huntington's loss, when it comes to their superintendent.
Jerry Mowery has confirmed to Clear Channel News that he will leave Huntington Local Schools to take the superintendent post at Zane Trace Schools. Zane Trace Board of Education will meet Tuesday to make that official, according to Mowery.
Mowery, who has been superintendent the last four years at Huntington, has been in that district for a total of 25 years, including a successfull stint at boys basketball coach.
He told Clear Channel News the decision to leave Huntington was "difficult", but said due to the fact that he is a resident of the Zane Trace District and his son attends high school there, it made the decision a practical one.
Mowery said he hopes to bring to Zane Trace the same "collaborative" approach he used at Huntington, when it comes to making decisions. Especially, in the area of district finances, which have been tight at Zane Trace in recent years- much like what has been experienced at Huntington.
Jerry Mowery also wanted to say he "thanks all the administrators and staff that I worked with at Huntington", which is part of what makes the decision to leave a tough one.
