Council moved to improve public transportation in the county, and heard plans from ODOT to replumb an important Western Avenue intersection.
The win-win arrangement between the Chillicothe Transit Department and the Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities is moving to the final step.
Two ordinances authorized the contract, and gave the city six buses - three at a dollar each, and three for nothing.
Board Director Rick Mariott says the new city transit facility has made all this possible. It should all be finalized in a couple weeks.
Engineering chair Dave Tatman says, for a lot of work at Western Avenue with Plyleys Lane and Centennial Drive, the city pays only $40,000 of the total million to do a lot of reworking.
But he says if it gets authorized, it probably won't happen until 2015...when Bridge Street might be also redone.
Council also passed almost all of the 19 items on its agenda...including consolidating seven bonds, and several department budget adjustments.
