Dr. John Gabis is the 2012 award recipient.

This year's recipient of the Chillicothe Kiwanis Statehood Day Achievement Award is a Ross County physician. Dr. John Gabis, medical director for Ross County Family Medicine, Adena Health Systems, was selected by the Kiwanis for representing the "Spirit of Ohio" through his community service and humanitarian deeds.

Dr. Gabis helped initiate the Ross County Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition which works with law enforcement, physicians and pharmacists to focus on the serious drug problems in Ross, Pike and Scioto counties.
