Fatal Crash on SR 159

One is dead and three others injured after the accident in Ross County, Thursday.

The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash which occurred on State Route 159, in Green Township, Ross County.

At approximately 5:35pm Thursday, 52-year-old Marcia Ellis of Chillicothe, was driving northbound on State Route 159 in a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero and 65-year-old Estella Hughes of Chillicothe was southbound on Route 159 in a Toyota Tercel. Ms. Ellis traveled left of center and struck Hughes head-on.

Hughes had two passengers in her vehicle, 67-year-old Franklin Hughes of Chillicothe, and a juvenile, also from Chillicothe.

Frank Hughes of Chillicothe was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Hughes was flown by Air Evac to OSU Medical Center and the juvenile was flown by Med Flight to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Ms. Hughes remains in critical condition.

Ms. Ellis was taken to Adena Hospital and later transported to OSU Medical Center by ground transportation. The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the investigation.

Ohio Department of Transportation assisted with the traffic control at the scene.
