The chief of police has been suspended for three days

Another blow Friday for the Mount Sterling Police Department, as the mayor shut the department down pending an investigation into an accusation of excessive force against a juvenile.

The department, which had most of its officers laid-off for budget problems last fall, now sees no department at all.

Mayor Charles Neff has put Police Chief Mike McCoy on three days paid suspension. Accusations involve the use of a taser on a juvenile.

The Madison County Sheriff will handle patrols in the village until further notice.
