Police Interrupt Burglary In Progress

3 people taken into custody

Three people were arrested after Chillicothe Police interrupted a burglary in progress Wednesday afternoon.

A tip was called into officers were the caller stated a female was outside of a house on Ewing and 5th Streets, acting as a lookout. The caller also stated that a man was coming in and out of the residence with items that included a safe, and was placing them in a car that was waiting in an alleyway.

When officers arrived the female, identified as Jeanie Rister and the man in the car, identified as Wayne Cotterman were taken into custody.

The man who had been removing items from the home ran from the officers. He was identified as Joseph Knox, and was lated discovered in the kitchen of a nearby home.

Knox is being charged with Burglary, Breaking and entering and Safe cracking. Charges are pending against Rister and Cotterman as well.
