Those with a household income of $50k or less eligible for free tax filing help.

Free tax-filing help for eligible wage earners is still available at several local sites staffed by the Ross County EITC Coalition. In addition to the United Way office and other city locations, free tax preparation assistance can be arranged at several county sites. On March 31, a final "Super Saturday" tax clinic will be hosted by Ross County Community Action.

Anyone whose annual household income is less than $50,270 may qualify for the free tax-filing assistance and may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit, or education credits. Tax returns can be e-filed and refunds may be deposited in a checking or savings account in as few as 7 to 10 days.

This year, taxpayers will have until Tuesday, April 17, to file their 2011 tax returns and pay any tax due because April 15 falls on a Sunday, and Emancipation Day, a holiday observed in the District of Columbia, falls this year on Monday, April 16.

To schedule an appointment or obtain more information, call the Ross County

EITC Coalition at 779-CASH (2274).
