Piketon and Zane Trace advance to District Finals as Southeastern falls in semis.

EASTERN BROWN 64, SOUTHEASTERN 44
The Southeastern Panthers could not overcome a hot shooting Eastern Brown Warriors basketball team in a 64-44 loss Saturday in the Division 3 District Semis at Ohio University.

If that wasn't tough enough, the Panthers shot only 27% from the field as the Warriors shot 58%.

Southeastern finished with two players in double figures in the loss. Austin Hice had 11 points and 7 rebounds, while senior Nick Kellough had all 10 of his points in the first half.

Eastern was led by Nathan Scott's 19 points, followed by Chase Lawson's 17 points and 10 from Riley Prine.

Eastern Brown improves to (22-2) as Southeastern ends their season at (11-12).

PIKETON 55, VALLEY 49
For the second time this season, the Piketon Redstreaks rallied back from a double-digit deficit to defeat Lucasville Valley. This time, beating the Indians 55-49.

The Redstreaks got themselves in a hole early, falling behind by as many as thirteen points at the end of the first quarter 22-9. In the second period, trailing 24-14, the Redstreaks went on a 9-0 run to close the gap to within one, 24-23, before Lucasville Valley scored to make it 26-23 at the half. Valley was able to outscore the Streaks in the third 13-7 to take a 39-30 lead.

With 5:10 remaining in the game and trailing 44-32, the Redstreaks used their full-court press in helping them go on a 14-0 run to take the lead 46-44 with 1:48 to play in the game. From there it was seesaw affair, going back and forth the rest of way. Trailing 49-48, the Redstreaks got a bucket from the right side by Jeremy Farmer putting them up 50-49. Later after a Valley missed opportunity, Zach Farmer hit one of two free throws making it 51-49.

Valley came down in the closing seconds, missing two opportunities to score and Craigen Moore of Piketon was able to take the ball away from a Valley player drawing a foul and upsetting the Indian bench to draw a technical. Moore sank all four free throw attempts to seal the victory for Piketon.

Piketon's fourth quarter run was energized by Colton Williams who scored 7 points in the game all coming in the second half. Piketon was led by Craigen Moore's 19 points and 8 rebs. Zach Farmer added 11 points and 9 rebounds with Jeremy Farmer chipping in 10 points of his own. Eight of those in the second half.

Piketon was able to get the win by shooting 13/18 for 72% from the free throw line and making nine of their last ten attempts. Piketon was 20/44 from the field for 45%.

The Indians were led by Jordan West with 15 points. Valley was 16/48 from the field for 33% and 13/27 from the free throw line for 48%.

(21-3) Piketon will play Crooksville in the District Final at 7:45pm March 8th.


ZANE TRACE 59, LYNCHBURG CLAY 45
Zane Trace trailed most of the night only to break it open when it mattered most. With the game tied in the fourth quarter at 40-40, the Pioneers went on an 11-0 run to go ahead 51-40 and punch their ticket to a District Championship game against Ironton with a 59-45 victory. They play March 8th at 9:30pm.

The Pioneers were led by Wes Beam with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Pierce Mowry added 17 points, Connor Smith and Eric Hutton each chipped in 10 points.

The Mustangs were led by Devin Pierson with 18 points.

For the game, the (18-5) Pioneers were 25/59 for 42% from the floor. They were 7/9 from the free throw line, all in the fourth quarter for 78%.

(12-12) Lynchburg was 13/39 from the floor for 33% and 16/21 for 76% from the charity stripe.
